"Le Récital"

I finally sat down and painted a special pastel recently, which included my granddaughter, Grace (She is the ballerina on the right). But rather than paint the scene in a frilly, colorful fashion, I wanted to create a scene which depended on dramatic rendering of light and dark -akin to the "chiarosuro" style of many masters long ago. It really helped that my daughter captured this moment with her camera just before the dance recital last June! It was a great reference to help bring this painting to its completion - "Le Récital"
